Graeme McDowell beat Webb Simpson in a playoff to win the RBC Heritage Golf Classic in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

The win was McDowell’s second career victory on the PGA Tour.

Luke Donald and Kevin Streelman tied for third.

McDowell found himself four shots behind when the final round started, but rallied with a closing of 69 over the wind-blown Harbour Town Golf Links course.

McDowell had his only bogey of the day on the 72nd hole to force a playoff against Simpson.

In the playoff, McDowell two-putted for par and Simpson missed a 10-footer for par.

Luke Donald is the number-1 golfer in the world and also the PGA Tour in 2011.

But now, he is also the year’s number-1 money winner after winning the Children’s Miracle Network Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Donald had to rally big-time to win the tournament. He ran off six straight birdies on the back nine to comeback from five shots off the lead, to finish at 8-under-par 64 and 17-under for the week.

Coming into the tourney, Donald was trailing Webb Simpson by $363,029 in the top money column.

Donald is also on pace to become the first golfer to win the money title on both the PGA and PGA European tours in the same season. His lead in Europe is more than $1.8 million over Rory McIlroy with five tournaments left in 2011.
