The place for tonight's action

A rare Wednesday edition of HIGH SCHOOL BOUNCE will pit two of the Columbus area’s best teams against each other in Gahanna.

The Bishop Hartley Hawks under Randy Kortokrax will play at Columbus Academy at 7:30 pm.

You can LISTEN LIVE by going to the HIGH SCHOOL BOUNCE page in the upper right hand corner, click it and scroll down to the February 8  game and click listen and the game comes up there. We’ll be on the air 20 minutes before the game with our usual information. The game will be archived forever on that page to listen to anytime.

Bishop Harley of the Central Catholic League is 11-3 with losses only to Watterson twice and Bloom-Carroll.

Columbus Academy of the Mid-State League Ohio Division, are 14-2, 12-1 and won last night over Lakewood at home, 88-27.

The Vikings have lost only to Newark Catholic and Jonathan Alder.

Both teams are ranked high in the Dispatch coaches poll, Hartley is fourth in Division II and Academy is second in Division III.

 

Tonight’s HIGH SCHOOL BOUNCE, Live at 7 pm, Brookhaven visits East in North battle

 

The Tuesday night edition of HIGH SCHOOL BOUNCE has Brookhaven (7-3, 5-1) at Columbus (O.) East High Tigers (5-6, 3-3)

LIVE on our website at 7 pm, pre-game is 1o minutes ahead.

This will be the first time that the Bearcats have been on the megasportsnews.com airwaves.

Brookhaven under head coach Hali Robinson, have beaten  Centennial, Westerville South, Whetstone, Mifflin, Linden, Friendship of D.C., and Beechcroft. They’ve lost to Pickerington Central, Berlin Hiland and Northland.

The East Tigers under the dean of City League head coaches, Bob White, are an improved 5-6, 3-3 in the North Division. The Tigers have beaten: Independence, Linden, Whetstone, Granville and Mifflin. They’ve lost to Centennial, Gahanna, Covington Catholic of Kentucky, Beechcroft, Northland and Watterson.

East has lost 3 games in a row and have not won since our HIGH SCHOOL BOUNCE contest vs. Mifflin on January 6.

Battling Bishops slides past Kenyon Lords

Andy Winters, a Watterson graduate, led Ohio Wesleyan over the Kenyon Lords, 58-56 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Winters scored 16 points in helping the Battling Bishops rally to the win.

OWU is 14-8, 10-3. Kenyon drops to 8-13, 4-9.

Watterson’s Redfield, Hartley’s Key selected Players of the Year

Watterson linebacker Matt Redfield and Hartley running back Noah Key, who led their teams to the state championship game this season, were selected as players of the year in their respective divisions by the Associated Press.

Key, who has rushed for a school-record 2,775 yards, an 8.8 yards per carry average, with 39 touchdowns shared the Division IV offensive player of the year honor with Kenton quarterback Maty Mauk. Hartley has a record of 12-2.

Redfield, the leader of the Eagles defense which allows 8.1 points per game, is the defensive player of the year in Division III. Watterson is 12-1.
