Due to the unforgotten brawl from this past season, which resulted in eight players being suspended, Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati have both decided that a change of scenery is in order for their annual rivalry game.

For the next two seasons, the annual basketball game between the two Queen City schools will be played in downtown Cincinnati at U.S. Bank Arena.

The arena, which seats 17,000 for basketball, was opened on September 9, 1975. It is the regular home for the Cincinnati Cyclones hockey team of the ECHL.

U.S. Bank Arena sits on the Ohio River behind the leftfield scoreboard of Great American Ball Park, home of the Cincinnati Reds.

The host Cincinnati Bearcats remained undefeated at 5-0 by defeating their rivals 50 miles up Interstate 75 North, the Dayton Flyers, 68-34 at U.S. Bank Arena.

UC held UD to 20 percent shooting, and the Flyers posted their lowest point total since a 57-32 drubbing at Xavier in 1948.

The Flyers have had a history of losses in Cincinnati. They did beat Cincinnati last year in the NIT on their way to the championship.
