NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Green Bay upends Bears, 21-14

Aaron Rodgers is making Green Bay fans forget about that traitor Brett Favre with each and every win on the football field. More now than ever since the Packers are heading to the Super Bowl.

Rodgers ran for a touchdown and made a touchdown-saving tackle in leading Green Bay to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Packers played an all-around game of offense, defense, shutting down Bears punt returner Devin Hester.

In the 182nd meeting in the series, Green Bay won 21-14 over the Chicago Bears.

The Packers are 13-6 and had to win all of its playoff games away from Lambeau Field, at Philadelphia, at Atlanta and now Chicago to get to the Big Game in Dallas.

Rodgers’ counterpart at QB, Jay Cutler, left the game due a knee injury in the third period, but he not performing well anyway.

His backup Todd Collins was inefficient as well.

The best QB for the Bears was third-stringer Caleb Hanie and he added life to the team.

Hanie rallied the Bears for a touchdown to cut the lead to 14-7 after Chester Taylor’s 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

But Hanie also gave the Packers a chance to add the winning touchdown by throwing a pass to Packers defensive lineman B.J. Raji, who rumbled 18 yards for a TD and a 21-7 lead.

Hanie then threw a touchdown to Earl Bennett of 35-yards and it was 21-14 with 4:43 to go.  But the Bears chance to tie ended when Hanie threw another interception by Sam Shields and that was the game.

Rodgers threw 244 yards with two interceptions and he led The Pack to a quick 14-0 lead.

Browns beat Bears in preseason action, 13-10; lose rookie Hardesty

The Cleveland Browns management really like rookie RB Montario Hardesty.

The Browns traded into the second round to draft Hardesty, who rushed for 1,345 yards in 2009 for the SEC’s Tennessee Volunteers. They like him as a starter or as a change-of-pace runner for 5’9, 205 pound Jerome Harrison, who has always had durability questions about him since he entered the NFL.

But Hardesty has durability issues of his own. His career with the Volunteers was slowed down because of injuries. On Thursday night, Hardesty hurt his left knee in the second quarter in Cleveland’s 13-10 win over the Chicago Bears in Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Hardesty’s injury could keep James Davis on the roster according to Cleveland area talk shows. He gained 66 yards on 15 carries and caught five passes for 53 yards before leaving with a leg injury in the fourth period.

Another Browns rookie who has had a shaky preseason camp is QB Colt McCoy. The Texas Longhorns alumnus received his first pro start and was a perfect 13-13 for 131 yards in two-and-a-half quarters. McCoy turned in his best preseason performance.

Reliable placekicker Phil Dawson kicked a 36-yard field goal, set up by Browns defensive back DeAngelo Smith who blocked a punt-as time expired for the Browns who ended the preseason at 2-2.

Quarterback Todd Collins, recently signed by Chicago to serve as a backup to Jay Cutler, completed 10 of 15 for 139 yards and a touchdown pass to tight end Greg Olsen for the Bears who ended the preseason at 0-4.
