USA Baseball announces staff for World Baseball Classic

USA Baseball has announced the six coaches who will work under manager Joe Torre in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

Joining Torre are bench coach Larry Bowa, bullpen/pitching coach Marcel Lachemann, pitching coach Greg Maddux, first base coach Dale Murphy, hitting coach Gerald Perry and third base coach Willie Randolph.

The 2013 World Baseball Classic will be played in March at sites including Arizona, Japan, Puerto Rico and Taiwan.

Tseng leads by three at Kia Classic

The world’s top female golfer, Yani Tseng shot a bogey-free 3-under-par 69 to take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the Kia Classic, which is taking place in Carlsbad, California.

Tseng is currently at 12-under-par 204.

The 23-year-old from Taiwan, has 24 professional wins, 14 on the LPGA Tour.

MLB picks Cano, Cabrera, Granderson for Taiwan exhibition trip in November

Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson of the New York Yankees will be headlining the 19-man roster announced for the Major League Baseball Taiwan exhibition tour in November.

The Major League players will play five games from November 1-6.

The roster also includes: Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers, Skip Schumaker of the St. Louis Cardinals, Pedro Sandoval of the San Francisco Giants.

The pitching staff will be Billy Bray of the Cincinnati Reds, Ross Detwiler, Dillon Gee, Jeremy Guthrie, Mark Melancon and Jose Veras.

The catchers are Drew Butera and Jeff Mathis.

In the infield, Erick Aybar, Michael Morse, Ryan Roberts, Danny Valencia and outfielders Emilio Bonifacio and Logan Morrison.

Tseng wins LPGA event in South Korea

The number-1 golfer in the world, Yani Tseng won the Hana Bank Championship for her sixth LPGA Tour win of the season and ninth overall title of the year.

Tseng shot a 5-under-par 67 to beat Na Yeon Choi by one stroke.

Tseng of Taiwan finished at 14-under-par 202 on the Sky 72 Golf Club’s Ocean Course in Incheon, South Korea.
