Ohio native Stacy Lewis wins LPGA event in Singapore

American Stacy Lewis won the HSBC Women’s Champions Tournament in Singapore, for her sixth career LPGA title.

Born in Toledo, Ohio and a product of the University of Arkansas, Lewis overcame two bogeys and some erractic putting on the back nine to hold off South Korea’s Na Yeon Choi by one shot.

The 28-year-old Lewis turned pro in 2008.

Chinese golfer Feng wins LPGA Championship in New York

Shanshan Feng became the first Chinese golfer to win an LPGA Tour title and major event, the LPGA Championship in Pittsford, New York.

The 22-year-old, who now has 5 professional wins, closed the final round with a 5-under-par 67.

Feng is the only player from China on the LPGA Tour, finished the tournament at 6-under-282.

Following Feng, was Stacy Lewis who shot a 70 to tie for second place with Mika MIyazato (69), Suzann Pettersen (70) and third-round leader Eun-Hee Ji (72).

Ohio native Lewis wins LPGA Classic in New Jersey

Toledo, Ohio native Stacy Lewis shot an even-par 71 on Sunday to win the ShopRite LPGA Classic by four strokes over Katherine Hull in Galloway, N.J.

Mika Miyazato and Azahara Munoz were both at 206 after rounds of 68 and 69, respectively.

Lexi Thompson, Anna Nordqvist and Hee-Won Han were all at 207.

The 27-year-old Lewis was born in Toledo, Ohio and went to the University of Arkansas. She turned pro in 2008 and has 4 professional wins.

Lewis finished 54 holes at the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club at 12-under-par 201. The victory was her third on the LPGA Tour and the second in 2012. She won the Mobile LPGA Classic back in April.

In 2011, Lewis won a major, the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Toledo native Lewis leads LPGA Classic after two rounds

Stacy Lewis birdied five of her final nine holes for a 5-under 67 and a one-stroke lead after the second round of the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic in Mobile, Alabama.

Tying the course record with a 64 was Karin Sjodin and was a stroke back with three other players.

The 27-year-old Lewis, a Toledo, Ohio native and University of Arkansas product, turned pro in 2008 and has two pro wins.

Korda wins Women’s Australian Open in six-player playoff

American teenager Jessica Korda, 18, the daughter of Petr Korda, the 1998 winner of the Men’s Australian Open in tennis, won the women’s golf version of the tournament in Melbourne, for her first LPGA title.

The younger Korda sanked a 25-foot birdie putt on the second hole of a six-player playoff.

Korda closed the tournament with a 1-over-par 74 to finish at 3-under-par 289 in the LPGA Tour’s 2012 opening event. It was also the first women’s first professional event at Royal Melbourne, the site of the 2011 President’s Cup.

The 6-player playoff which equalled the largest in LPGA history included Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lincicome, Julieta Granada, So Yeon Ryu and Hee Kyung Seo.
