ESPN paying $80 million to televise Rose Bowl game

ESPN has agreed to pay an average of $80 million a year to broadcast the Rose Bowl game from 2015 through 2026. The agreement was reported by the Sports Business Journal.

The current deal is a payout of $30 million and the jump to $80 million is an increase of 167 percent.

The Pac-12 and the Big Ten will be able to keep all media revenue from the game, except in the years where the Rose Bowl hosts a national championship semifinal game. During those years, the revenue will be distributed to all Football Bowl Subdivision conferences.

Despite bad season, Blue Jackets lead NHL West in attendance increase

The Columbus Blue Jackets are not having the season that they envisioned several months ago with all of the acquisitions of free agents and the the trades they made.

But the bad season is not slowing down the turnstiles.

The Blue Jackets have seen the largest increase in attendance of 7.8 in the Western Conference this season. The increase is according to Sports Business Journal.

The increase is the result of the off-season acquisitions of Jeff Carter and James Wisniewski that had the fan base excited to get the season started.
