Overtime period friendly to hockey Buckeyes; beat Bowling Green

The Ohio State Buckeyes seem to have a good friend when they have to go to overtime. They usually do well in the extra, sudden-death period.

Danny Dries scored a power-play goal 3:54 into overtime, giving the Buckeyes a 4-3 win over Bowling Green in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game at Bowling Green’s Ice Arena.

Ohio State only took 18 seconds to capitalize on a too many men on the ice penalty on the Falcons. Shane Sims fed the puck up the ice to Dries, who was able to beat goaltender Nick Eno.

The Buckeyes were looking at sudden defeat in the third period trailing 2-0. But in a span of six minutes, John Albert, Sean Duddy and Sergio Somma scored goals to take a 3-2 lead.

The Falcons scored on a power-play with 2:44 left in regulation to send the game into overtime.

The Buckeyes improve their record to 7-8-1 overall, 4-6-1-1 in the league.

Bowling Green falls to 6-11-2, 2-9-2 in the league.
