Serena Williams won her third Rogers Cup women’s championship by dominating unseeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea 6-2, 6-0 in Toronto.

Williams, who currently is ranked #1 in the world, has 54 WTA titles and a singles record of 610-111, good for 84.6%.

On the men’s side, Rafael Nadal beat Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-2 in the Rogers Cup final in Montreal.

The loss spoiled Raonic’s bid to become the first Canadian winner in the 55 years of the prestigious tournament.

Nadal beat Novak Djokovic in Saturday’s semifinal match.

Serena Williams rallied past Jelena Jankovic 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 to win her 15th straight match and the second straight championship at the Family Circle Cup Tournament in Charleston, South Carolina.

The tournament started to change when the two players got into a heated exchange when Williams complained that Jankovic was serving before she was ready, which is a courtesy of the game of tennis.

From there, Williams won six straight and 12 of the final 14 games.

Williams has had a fantastic 2012 season, with a 19-match winning streak, 36 wins in her last 37 matches and has won titles in Charleston, Madrid, Wimbledon, Stanford and Olympics.

But on Friday, Kerber had an answer for everything Serena sent her way.

MASON, OHIO — Everybody expects a player of Serena Williams’ caliber to have it easy when she plays against a qualifier or in this case the 121st-ranked player in the Western & Southern Open, Eleni Daniilidou of Greece.

But it was anything but easy for the 30-year-old tennis star who endured 92 minutes of up-and-down tennis to beat her opponent, 6-3, 6-4. The first set took 43 minutes and 49 minutes in the second set.

The 2nd-seeded Williams squandered 10 break point conversions, 44 unforced errors and only had 32 winners. Of her 44 unforced errors, Serena said, “that’s shocking and it’s unprofessional.”

Daniilidou had problems of her own, which prevented her from winning the match. She double-faulted nine times.
