Cincinnati rallies to beat Georgia, 57-51

The Cincinnati Bearcats rallied from an 11-point deficit and defeated Georgia, 57-51 in the Big East-SEC Challenge.

Sean Kilpatrick scored 22 points and Dion Dixon chipped in with 19 for the Bearcats who go to 5-2 on the season in playing its first road game of the year.

Georgia drops to 4-4.

Tiny Presbyterian College upsets Cincinnati; rallies from 15 down

Khalid Mutakabbir led a Presbyterian comeback from a 15-point deficit and knocked down the go-ahead three-point goal with 7.6 seconds to go Saturday, leading the Blue Hose to a 56-54 upset of the #20 Cincinnati Bearcats. It was the school’s biggest win in five years of playing Division I basketball.

Presbyterian College is a small, private liberal arts college from Clinton, South Carolina, from the Big South Conference with an enrollment of 1,300. They are considered a Division I mid-major school.

The Blue Hose improve to 3-2 while the Bearcats fall to 2-1.

PC trailed by 15 points halfway through the second half.

Mutakabbir matched his career-high with 25 points and he fueled the 24-7 run to end the game.

Cincinnati had the last shot of the game but Cashmere Wright’s shot was too hard and clanked off the rim as the Blue Hose celebrated at midcourt as the crowd of 4,960 at the Shoemaker Center booed the home team as they left the court.

The Bearcats were led by Sean Kilpatrick with 19 points.

Cincinnati upsets #16 Louisville, 63-54

The Cincinnati Bearcats earned their 20th win of the season by beating one of their arch-rivals, the Louisville Cardinals, 63-54.

Cashmere Wright canned 20 points and Sean Kilpatrick added 18 for the Bearcats in the Big East affair. The ‘Cats are 20-6, 7-6.

Louisville drops to 19-7, 8-5.

UC reached 20 wins for the first time since 2006.

Cincinnati beats hapless DePaul

When Oliver Purnell bolted the Clemson Tigers as head coach during this past off-season, people said he was crazy for leaving the ACC for the Big East and the downtrodden DePaul program.

Purnell says he can rebuild the program into a powerhouse. Well, it won’t be happening this year.

The Blue Demons dropped to 6-18 overall and 0-11 after their latest loss to Big East opponent Cincinnati, 71-68 in Chicago.

Sean Kilpatrick scored 19 points for the Bearcats who blew a 17-point lead but held on.

Cincinnati is 19-5, 6-5.

#16 Notre Dame beats #25 Cincinnati in men’s basketball

The Cincinnati Bearcats are finding out that the Big East Conference games are a lot tougher than their non-conference schedule was and there are no patsies.

Notre Dame beat the Bearcats 66-58 Wednesday night.

Tyrone Nash and Ben Hansborough led five scorers in double figures with 13 points each and Notre Dame held off a late UC rally.

Notre Dame improves to 15-4, 4-3, while UC drops to 16-3, 3-3.

Cincinnati reserves Sean Kilpatrick scored 16 points, including seven straight with 7 minutes to play. UC go to within five with 1:12 to go, but Notre Dame put the game away by going 7 0f 8 from the free throw line.
