COLUMBUS, OHIO — The Columbus Blue Jackets have not always played 60 minutes of hockey in their games this season.

But whether or not they are leading or trailing in a game, they are exciting to watch and will agitate opponents with their grit and grind all game.

Case in point on Friday night, against division foe, the Philadelphia Flyers.

They trailed for the entire game but were equally matched up with the Flyers. The only difference the CBJ trailed 3-1 in the early part of the third period.

Before Friday night’s game, the CBJ had one of the worst trail-after-two periods record in the NHL at 0-20.

That pitiful record might’ve woke up the team because the players were tired of answering questions about it.

Towards the middle of the third period, the Jackets started an unbelievble turnaround that led to a 4-3 win and got a lift from an unlikely scorer.

RW Jared Boll, more known as an enforcer for the team, showed that he has other skills by tipping in a rebound at 8:38 to cut the deficit to 3-2. That goal seemed to energize the team as they skated and battled like their lives depended on it.

Cam Atkinson, made a rebound shot and the game was tied 3-3 at the 15:20 mark.

From there, Columbus held on and took the game into overtime.

The Jackets kept up the pace and pressure by staying in the Flyers’ own zone.

Artem Anisimov scored the game-winner at 2:17 of the extra period as he was free against Flyers’ goaltender Ray Emery, to knock in the rebound blast shot by teammate James Wisniewski and the crowd of 16,403 went home happy from Nationwide Arena.

The Blue Jackets tied the game 1-1 on Brandon Dubinsky’s goal at 8:09 of the second period.

That was shortlived, as the Flyers came back to go-ahead 2-1 on  a Sean Couturier’s goal at 17:47 of the same period.

Wayne Simmonds got the game’s scoring going at 10:33 of the first period.
