The Arizona Diamondbacks have high expectations of the talents that Adam Eaton possesses that he has been selected along with four other players to play in the prestigious Arizona Fall League. He’ll be heading out this weekend to play for the Salt River Rafters in Scottsdale.

Eaton, a 2007 graduate of Springfield Kenton Ridge High School, started the 2011 season with the Single-A Visalia Rawhide and in June was promoted to the Mobile BayBears. He hit .302, the third-best average on the team, had an on-base percentage of .409 in 56 games. He hit four home runs, stole 10 bases and knocked home 28 runs.

Adam’s second minor league season ended with a championship as the Double-A BayBears last Sunday clinched the Southern League title with a 6-4 win over the Tennessee Smokies.

The temperature was 39 degrees when play began at 11:40 am MST.

More delays are expected Friday and Saturday, which could force a 36-hole round on Sunday.

Bill Haas, Jason Bohn, Tom Gillis and Tom Lehman shot 6-under-par 65′s in chilly conditions to share the lead in the suspended first round of the Phoenix Open.
