Freshman guard Kim Demmings of the Wright State women’s basketball team has been selected as collegesportsmadness.com’s Horizon League Player of the Week for the week ending January 28.

Demmings (Richmond, IN/Richmond) scored 38 points with 18 rebounds and 12 assists in two Raider wins last week.  In a 71-66 overtime decision at Youngstown State on January 28, Demmings nearly posted a triple-double as she had 25 points along with season highs in rebounds (14) and assists (nine).  She scored the first 10 WSU points in overtime, including a decisive three-point play with 50.4 seconds remaining.

It was the second overtime win of the season for Wright State, the other coming at home against Milwaukee on January 14, and was the first overtime win away from home for the program since defeating Milwaukee 93-91 in double overtime on February 10, 1994, breaking a 10-game losing streak in such contests.

On January 26 at Cleveland State, Demmings had 13 points, four rebounds and three assists as the Raiders won 64-54.

Demmings, who has scored in double figures in every Horizon League game and has scored at least eight points in all but one contest the entire year, currently ranks third in the league in scoring average (16.8), third in assists per game (4.1), 14th in free throw percentage (710) and 15th in rebounds per game (6.0).  In league games only, Demmings is second in scoring (18.8), tied for third in assists (4.7), seventh in defensive rebounds (5.7) and 11th in rebounds overall (7.1).
