The Beechcroft Cougars had an up-and-down regular season playing well in some games and bad in others.

But they are still a dangerous team with Maurice Hale, Khaleed Franklin and Arthur Thomas.

Two of the those players are the reason that the Cougars upset fellow City League member Marion-Franklin on Saturday in the Division II tournament at Dublin Scioto.

Franklin scored 23 points and Thomas scored 16 to help Beechcroft (9-14) advance with a 69-65 win.

The Red Devils who trailed by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter, cut the deficit to two late with back-to-back three pointers.

Marion-Franklin, who ends the season at 10-11, were led by Marquiez Lawrence with 10 and Demetrius Walker with 14.
