Tennessee Titans take a chance on Randy Moss

The 2010 NFL season has been one of trials and tribulations for wide receiver Randy Moss.

He has gone from Foxboro, Massachusetts (Patriots), to Minneapolis, Minnesota (Vikings) and now to the home of country music and the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, Tennessee.

The Tennessee Titans have claimed Randy Moss off of waivers because they didn’t want to take any risks with receiver Kenny Britt missing at least one game due to an injured right hamstring.

When Tennessee was the Houston Oilers, they passed on drafting Moss in 1998 because of concerns about his character.

The Titans, who are 5-3, are a half-game back in the AFC South with five division games left.

Head coach Jeff Fisher says that Moss gives their offense a huge upgrade.

The Minnesota Vikings decided to cut Moss on Monday, after less than a month in his second stint with the NFC North team.

Moss let go by the Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings let Randy Moss go after four weeks since trading for him after New England wanted to dump him. They traded a third-round pick to get Moss.

Last week Moss was fined $25,000 for failing to cooperate and make himself available to the media regularly.

After Sunday’s 28-18 loss at New England, he announced that he would not be taking any questions, while criticizing the Vikings for not allowing him to have input into the game plan.

The Vikings decided ‘enough is enough’. So they released the frustrated All-Pro receiver.

Moss had only one catch for eight yards against the Patriots. In four games with Minnesota, he caught 13 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns.

Moss’ calls for a base salary of $6.4 million this season which leaves the Vikings responsible for at least $1.5 million of it. If Moss is fortunate enough to catch on with another team off waivers, that team would be responsible for the remainder of his salary. If he clears waivers, Moss could sign as a free agent under new terms.

The trade had been rumored to happen all day on Tuesday by every major media entity in the country, AP, Fox, ESPN, etc. And Wednesday morning it became a reality.

The New England Patriots have completed the details that would send wide receiver star Randy Moss back to the Minnesota Vikings. The Patriots will be getting a third round pick in return.

Moss spent the first seven years of his career in Minnesota.

Moss, a seven-time Pro Bowler was a first-round draft pick of Minnesota’s in 1998. He was traded to the Oakland Raiders and spent two years there before being going to New England.

This season, the Patriots and Moss had a disagreement over a contract extension or a new deal. When Moss made his feelings public, head coach Bill Belichick had a meeting with him and things seemed to die down.
