The singer of the 1975 smooth, light-rock hit song Poetry Man has died at age 60.

Phoebe Snow, a singer-songwriter who became famous with that very popular song, died earlier this week in Edison, New Jersey.

Born Phoebe Ann Laub, on July 17, 1950 in New York, New York, Snow had suffered from a brain hemorrhage in January 2010.

Snow grew up in a home that featured several types of music: Delta Blues, Broadway show tunes, Dixieland Jazz, Classical music and folk music.

The 1974 self-titled album Phoebe Snow helped catapult the talented singer with a Multi-octave ranged voice, into a star at the time. She was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, appeared on Saturday Night Live and received her a nomination for a Grammy Award.
