James Morrison wins PGA European Tour’s Spanish Open

England’s James Morrison, who entered the final round tied for the lead, won the PGA European Tour’s Spanish Open by four strokes.

He shot a 3-under-par 69 in Terressa, Barcelona, Spain.

Rounding out the top five in order were Edouard Espana, David Howell, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Francesco Molinari.

Morrison, who is 30, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.

He turned pro in 2006 and has won twice on the European Tour.

Ilonen captures European Tour event

Mikko Ilonen fired a 3-under-par 69 to win the Nordea Masters Tournament in Stockholm, Sweden.

Ilonen shot a 21-under 267 for the tournament for his first win on the PGA European Tour.

The 33-year-old from Lahti, Finland now has three professional wins on his resume.

England’s Willett earns first European Tour victory

Danny Willett of England won his first title on the PGA European Tour after beating Marcus Fraser of Australia in a playoff in rainy conditions.

The 24-year-old Willett, who turned pro in 2008, won the BMW International Open in Pulheim, Germany.

The Jacksonville State University product shot a final-round 73 for an 11-under-par 277 to finish with a share of the lead with Fraser, who shot a 71.

Willett, who has 106 starts in his career, won at the fourth extra hole with a par while Fraser bogeyed.

Westwood leads Nordea Masters event by three shots

England’s Lee Westwood shot a 4-under-par 68 to maintain a three-stroke lead after the third round of the Nordea Masters in Bro, Sweden.

The 39-year-old Westwood is 16-under-par 200.

Ross Fisher, another native of England, is in second place at 13 under in the PGA European Tour event.

Colsaerts beats McDowell in World Match Play event in Spain

Nicolas Colsaerts had no problem handling the fierce winds to hold off Graeme McDowell and is the 2012 winner of the World Match Play Championship in Casares, Spain on the PGA European Tour.

The win helps Colsaerts in his chances of earning a spot on Europe’s Ryder Cup team.

Colsaerts, who is 29 and from Belguim, won his ninth pro tournament, second European Tour title. He won a check for $900,000.

McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open champion, could not win due to poor iron play.
