Broncos replace Tebowmania with Peyton Manning at QB

Eventhough Tim Tebow brought nationwide noteriety to the Denver Broncos last season with his inspiring, miracle play at quarterback, reports out of the Mile High City kept saying that owner Pat Bowlen and front office executive John Elway were not sold on him as their future leader.

As soon as the Indianapolis Colts cut Peyton Manning, the Broncos name came up.

The Broncos now have Manning as their starting quarterback.

Contract details have not been announced, but there has been an agreement in principle that he’ll be playing for Denver in 2012.

The other teams in the Manning sweepstakes were the 49ers and Dolphins and Titans.

With the signing of Manning, there is no doubt that Tebow, the team’s first-round pick in 2010, will be traded.

Manning missed all of the 2011 season due to rehabbing from a series of neck surgeries.

Without him, the  Colts went from being one of the best NFL teams to the worst and it cost head coach Jim Caldwell his job.

John Fox was let go by the Carolina Panthers at the end of their season.

He is now the new head coach of the Denver Broncos, leading their path of rebuilding back to the top of the NFL.

Fox replaces the controversial Josh McDaniels, who most people around the NFL said he was out of his league as a head coach.

The 55-year-old Fox was the chose of owner Pat Bowlen and president of football operations John Elway.

Fox went 78-74, including the playoffs, in nine seasons with the Panthers, who didn’t renew his contract after an NFL-worst 2-14 season in 2010. Fox led Carolina to the 2004 Super Bowl, losing to New England.

Denver is coming off a franchise-worst 4-12 season.

McDaniels out in Denver after blunders, scandals

Josh McDaniels (photo by Sharanr via Wikipedia Commons)

Most Denver fans and media felt that owner Pat Bowlen had made a mistake hiring Josh McDaniels as head coach just because he was a highly-decorated assistant coach of Bill Belichick at New England.

After less than two years, the 34-year-old McDaniels is out as head coach. His record of 11-17, videotape scandal, personal blunders and the franchises worst losing times in four years prompted the firing.

Running backs coach Eric Stoudesville takes over for the final 4 games.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen was not pleased with the direction of the team.

McDaniels started out hot as the head coach in Denver, winning his first six games but ended up losing 17 of the last 22.

He becomes the third head coach who has been fired this season following Wade Phillips of Dallas and Brad Childress of Minnesota.
