The Chicago Fire came to Columbus Crew Stadium on Sunday afternoon just hoping to get out of town with a least a tie. After all, they hadn’t won in Columbus, Ohio since 2007 and hadn’t won a game in their previous 11 games.

The law of averages had something better in mind for the Fire.
Chicago’s Cristian Nazarit scored in second-half stoppage time, barely 10 minutes after entering the match off the bench, as the underdog Fire pulled a stunner, beating the Columbus Crew who had not lost at home all season, 1-0.
The Fire ended an 0-4-7 streak and became the first team in 13 games to outshoot the Crew (18-8).
Orr Barouch, another substitute off the bench, set up the game-winning play by taking the ball down the right side of the box that let to a shot into traffic. Crew goalkeeper William Hesmer made the save but Nazarit, was there for the rebound shot.
The Crew drops to 4-4-6 on the season.
Early in the game, the Crew was the aggressor, getting many chances to score, but could not finish their opportunities.
The Crew will travel to the space city of Houston, Texas to take on the Dynamo for the first intra-conference match between the two teams on Saturday June 18. The Dynamo was moved to the Eastern Conference for the 2011 season with the arrival of the two newest expansion teams, Portland and Vancouver being added to the Western Conference.
