Ohio Dominican earns fourth win, 75-71 over Ashland

Ohio Dominican senior Morgan Jones scored 22 points and surpassed the 1,000-point milestone for his career to lead the host Panthers to a 75-71 win over Ashland University in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Panthers are 4-14 overall, 1-12 in the league.

Bobby Stauffer scored 10 points and hauled down 10 rebounds to support Jones.

The Ashland Eagles drop to 5-11, 3-10 and were led by Brook Turson with 21 points.

Ashland beats Ohio Dominican by 10, 96-86

The Ashland Eagles won their ninth game of the season, defeating Ohio Dominican over the weekend, 96-86.

The Eagles were led by Evan Yates with 26 points and Will Evans with 25 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.

Ashland ups its record to 9-6, 4-4.

Ohio Dominican drops to 3-12, 0-9.

The Panthers were led by senior forward Aaron Gibbs, who scored 22 points. The 6’3, 210-pound Gibbs is a transfer from Presbyterian College.

Wayne State holds off Ohio Dominican, 31-24

A crowd of 1,857 at Panther Field were very disappointed as the Warriors had three players go over the 100 yards mark, two rushing, one receiving, as Wayne State University from Detroit, Michigan held off Ohio Dominican in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game, 31-24 in Columbus, Ohio.

Troy Burrell had eight catches for 163 yards, Toney Davis had 127 yards rushing on 20 carries and Josh Renel rushed 19 times for 107 yards to help their team to a 4-0 record.

Mike Noffsinger rushed for 100 yards for 2-2 ODU.

Bishop Ready grad Graessle leads Tiffin over ODU, 77-72

The battle of the two bottom teams in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Tiffin and Ohio Dominican went down to the wire.

The Tiffin Dragons won 77-70 with freshman, Joe Graessle from Columbus Bishop Ready, scoring 18 points to lead his team to the win.

Tiffin (8-18, 7-12) led at the half and held off ODU’s second half charge to sweep the season series.

Ohio Dominican (6-20, 3-16) was led by Aaron Gibbs with 17 points and 12 rebounds, Zak Kapron added 12 points with 10 rebounds.

Ohio Dominican loses to Ashland, 44-15

Mike Noffsinger ran 123 yards to set a single-season record for Ohio Dominican, but Ashland, one of the best teams in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, took control of the game early to roll, 44-15.

The game at Panther Field in Columbus, Ohio drew 1,757 fans.

Ashland is now 7-3 overall, 6-3 in the conference. Ohio Dominican falls to 2-7 in both the conference and overall.

Noffsinger has 712 yards for the season and breaks the old record set by Nathan Clark in 2007 with 656 yards.

One other bright spot for the Panthers. Trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Nate Weeks blocked a punt out of the end zone for a safety and it was 14-2, but ODU couldn’t get any closer.

Next week, the Panthers will get on I-70 West and travel 169 miles to play at the University of Indianapolis. Game time Saturday is 2:00 p.m.
