Reynoldsburg goes to 3-0 on the season with win over Grove City

The host Reynoldsburg Raiders defeated the Grove City Greyhounds on Friday night, 50-46.

Wendell Davis pumped in 18 points and Jaylen Givens scored 10 of his 16 points in the decisive fourth quarter to seal the Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division game.

The Raiders are 3-0,1-0.

Reynoldsburg outscored the Greyhounds 20-12 in the final quarter.

Grove City drops to 1-2,0-1 on the season.

 

Doubleheader today on HIGH SCHOOL BOUNCE: 11:00 am, Northland vs. Reynoldsburg; 3:00 pm, Walnut Ridge plays Olentangy Liberty

HIGH SCHOOL BOUNCE will be busy today as we broadcast two games from the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum.

At 11:00 am, the Northland Vikings take on the Reynoldsburg Raiders in one District final while the Walnut Ridge Scots play the Olentangy Liberty Patriots in the other final at 3:oo pm.

The Vikings, six-time defending champions of the Columbus City League, brings a 22-1 record into the game, having beaten Central Crossing, Columbus West and Zanesville in the Marysville region.

The Raiders, of the Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division, bring a 12-9 record into the contest having won two OHSAA playoff games over Olentangy Orange and Hilliard Davidson also in the Marysville region.

This afternoon at 3:00 pm, the Olentangy Liberty Patriots will take on the Walnut Ridge Scots.

The Patriots from Powell, Ohio, play in the Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division where they were the champions.

Liberty has only lost to Westerville Central, 49-46 and Westerville South, 58-57 and are 20-2 on the season.

Columbus City League runner-ups, the Walnut Ridge Scots are 21-1 on the season, the only blemish being a loss to the Northland Vikings in the City League championship game.

The City League South Division champion Scots have advanced to the District finals by beating Whetstone and two other Ohio Capital Conference schools in Worthington Kilbourne and Mount Vernon.

Pickerington North gives Gahanna first loss of season

By defeating previously undefeated Gahanna on Friday night, the Pickerington North Panthers have a share of first place in the Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division.

The Panthers got their revenge on the Lions, 58-48 before a capacity crowd. The Lions handed the the Panthers their only loss of the season earlier in the season, 61-41.

North jumped out to a 13-2 lead early before Gahanna could get itself in gear.

But the key to the game was when the Panthers went on a 22-0 run late in the third quarter and ended six minutes into the fourth quarter which sealed the game.

Gahanna, a state semifinalist last year, was trying to a second straight season with a 20-0 record.

The Lions drop to 16-1, 10-1 while North is 15-1, 10-1.

The Gahanna-Lincoln Lions pushed their record to 15-0 on the season, 9-0 in the Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division, with a 65-36 win over the visiting Lancaster Golden Gales.

By scoring 13 points in the game, Stevie Taylor became the all-time leading scorer for Gahanna.

Taylor, who will be playing his college basketball at Ohio University next season, upped his career total to 1,270 points and surpassed the record of 1,262 held by Mike Browning (1966-69).

Gahanna has been very good since Taylor stepped foot in the school, going 75-12.

Lancaster having a tough season, dropped to 1-11, 1-7.
