Norway’s Suzann Pettersen beat Cristie Kerr 1-up to win the Sybase Match Play Championship in Gladstone, New Jersey, ending a 20-month winless drought on tour.

Canada, U.S. advance in hockey championships

Canada advanced to the quarterfinal of the hockey world championship after beating Norway 3-2 yesterday in Kosice, Slovakia, and the United States won as well.

Canada leads Group F with a perfect 10 points. The team’s last group game is today against Sweden today.

The United States came back from a goal down to beat France 3-2.

The U.S. team has seven points and plays Switzerland today in its last qualifying game.

Nash helps Canada beat the U.S. in world championships

Rick Nash and Jordan Eberle scored in a penalty shootout to give Team Canada to a 4-3 win over the United States Friday in the second round of the hockey world championship in Kosice, Slovakia.

Canada is tied with Sweden for the Group F lead with seven points and plays Norway today (Saturday).

The U.S. has four points with two more games left and will play France today (Saturday).

United States hockey team wins world championship opener

Chris Kreider started the scoring and the U.S. cruised to a huge 5-1 win over Austria in its opening game at the world hockey championship in Kosice, Slovakia.

Next up for the Americans is Norway.
