Malm’s field goal gives DePauw 23-21 win over Ohio Wesleyan

Visiting DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana received a 37-yard field goal with four seconds remaining Saturday to take home a 23-21 win over Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic Conference action.

The win improves the Tigers to 2-4, 2-3 on the season.

The Battling Bishops drop to 3-3, 2-3 for the season.

The win was impressive for DePauw, who had trailed 21-10 after three quarters of play.

OWU QB Mason Espinosa had his usual game, completing 25 of 40 passes for 285 yards and one touchdown.

Espinosa leads Ohio Wesleyan to win at Denison, 32-29


Quarterback Mason Espinosa threw for 302 yards and three touchdowns in Ohio Wesleyan’s 32-29 win at Denison University.

The game marked the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Denison quarterback Max Paulus also had a nice game throwing for two scoring passes.

The game wasn’t decided until the final 1:26 when OWU recovered the onside kick.

Wabash’s Walsh selected for NCAC men’s basketball weekly honor

Sophomore Andy Walsh has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Walsh scored a total of 38 points in two victories for the Wabash basketball team last week while shooting 14-of-22 from the field (.636) and 6-of-10 from beyond the three-point arc (.600). He was also 4-for-4 from the free throw line and grabbed four rebounds while handing out three assists.

Walsh scored a career-best 18 points on Wednesday night to lead the Little Giants to a 55-49 victory over nationally-ranked conference-leader Wittenberg University. He shot 7-of-10 from the field coming off the bench for Wabash, with a 4-of-6 performance from three-point range. Saturday he upped his career mark with a 20-point effort at Kenyon College in a 79-51 victory. Walsh was 7-of-12 from the field. He was 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.

A psychology major, Walsh is a 6’3 sophomore from Clinton, Indiana, South Vermillion High School.

Ohio Wesleyan throttles Oberlin, 81-57

The Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops improved their record to 16-5 overall with an 81-57 domination of the Oberlin Yeomen in a North Coast Athletic Conference game.

OWU is 8-4 in league play.

Andy Winters scored 18 points, dished out 10 assists, Tim Brady scored 16 points and Reuel Rogers had 12.

Oberlin drops to 6-15, 1-11 on the season.



Ohio Wesleyan beats DePauw behind Brady

The Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan improved to 15-4 on the season with a 74-61 win over the DePauw Tigers on Saturday.

OWU is now 7-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Tim Brady led the way for the Battling Bishops with 27 points.

DePauw drops to 12-7, 6-4 with the loss.
