Veteran character actor Harold Gould, born Harold V. Goldstein ,who played the father of the Valerie Harper character on Rhoda and the con man Kid Twist in the 1973 movie The Sting, has died at age 86.

He died of prostate cancer at the Motion Picture & Television Fund retirement community in Woodland Hills.

Our 44th president, Barack Obama has written a children’s book, Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters, to be published November 16.

The book pays tribute to 13 Americans, including George Washington, artist Georgia O’Keeffe and baseball great Jackie Robinson. It is illustrated by Cincinnati artist Loren Long.

Of Thee I Sing is intended for children 3 years of age and older.

The publisher, Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young readers, an imprint of Random House, says the book is priced at $17.99 with proceeds going to charity.
