The first quarter was tied 12-12. Linden led at the half, 33-26 and at the end of three quarters, 49-48.

But we all know the game is won in the fourth quarter and the host Cougars took over outscoring Linden, 22-14 en route to a 70-63 triumph.

Maurice Hale, a quarterback at Beechcroft, scored 20 points followed by the gentleman he throws the football to, wide receiver Khaleed Franklin, scored 19.

The Linden-McKinley Panthers stayed with the St. Charles on Saturday night as the first quarter score was a low of 8-5 in favor of the Cardinals.

But anytime a team is in the midst of a losing streak, they often wonder is this the night we’ll win, or will something bad happen and another loss is on the horizon?

For the Panthers, the latter happened in the second quarter as St. Charles scored 15 points to lead at the half, 23-13.

The Panthers ignited for a 14-7 advantage in the 3rd quarter and trailed only 30-27.

But the host Cardinals, pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 15-11 advantage and final score of 45-38.

St. Charles improves to 7-3 overall, while Linden drops to a very disappointing 0-11.

Bryce Spees led the Cardinals with a season-high 23 points.

Linden was led by power forward Nick Battle with 17 points.
