Miami Heat star Chris Bosh out for season with blood clots in his lungs

The Miami Heat have not had the dominating season that they experienced the past four years with LeBron James on the team. They went to the NBA Finals all of those seasons, winning two titles.

Currently, they do hold the Number 7 spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race with a not-so-hot record of 23-30.

Besides Dwayne Wade, their best player has been Chris Bosh. The 6’11, 235-pound center from Dallas, Texas, has had a solid season of 21.1 points and 7 rebounds in the first year of his five-year deal he signed last summer worth $118 million dollars.

Right now, the 30-year-old Bosh is thinking about his life instead of statistics, money and NBA titles.

The Heat announced on Saturday that his season is over due to blood clots found in one of his lungs. The problem, could’ve killed him if it had not been detected when it was. Bosh had been complaining about pain in his back and sides for several days.

There is no timetable for the All-Star forward’s return looking to next season.

The streaking-hot Cleveland Cavaliers are always trying to find ways to improve their chances of getting to the NBA Finals as the Eastern Conference champion.

The so-called experts have said that they need one more player with an inside presence and to add frontcourt depth.

They may have had a player chose them!

It has been reported by TV, Radio and Newspaper reports that former Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kendrick Perkins has signed a contract with the Cavs. The team has not announced it officially and neither has Perkins said anything about where he will end up. Although Perkins did say he would not mind playing with LeBron James. Those reports have also stated the announcement will come on Monday.

Perkins would be a good fit. The 6’10, 270-pound 30-year-old, won an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008.

Perkins was waived on Saturday by the Utah Jazz, who had acquired him in a trade deadline deal with the Thunder.

It had been rumored for weeks that Joe Dumars would either resign or would not have his contract renewed by the Detroit Pistons.

On Monday, the Detroit Pistons announced that Dumars would step down as President of Basketball Operations, yet remain as an advisor to the organization and its ownership group. During his 14 years as President, Dumars guided the organization to a 595-536 (.527) regular-season record, 73 playoff wins, six Eastern Conference Finals appearances (2003-08), six Central Division titles, two Eastern Conference Championships (2004, 2005), two NBA Finals appearances and the 2004 NBA Championship.

The Pistons have not made the playoffs since 2009.

During the 2005-2006 season, Detroit recorded its best regular-season record in franchise history (64-18). The Pistons made it to the Eastern Conference Finals six straight years (2003–2008) under Dumars’ leadership.

Everybody from media to fans of the Miami Heat who felt that Erik Spoelstra would be out as head coach after this season, can forget about that notion.

The team has given the 41-year-old protege of Pat Riley a contract extension.

Last season, Miami had a 58-24 record and  14-7 postseason record, but lost to the Dallas Mavericks in six games in the NBA Finals.

The University of Portland grad is in his fourth season as a head coach and 17th with the team overall.

The Evanston, Illinois native has a three-year record of 148-98 in the regular season and 18-15 in the playoffs.

Dwane Casey will be bringing his rugged, hockey-style of defense to his new job in Canada.

The Toronto Raptors hired Casey as their new coach, after the former Dallas assistant coach helped the Mavericks win the NBA Finals.

Casey succeeds Canadian Jay Triano, who finished the past season at 22-60. Triano is now a team consultant.

Casey has been a head coach before. He coached the Minnesota Timberwolves from June 2005 to January 2007, compiling a 43-59 record.
