Rookie Patrick Reed takes lead in PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship

PGA Tour rookie Patrick Reed shot a 6-under-par 64 to take a one-stroke lead at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Reed, who is 23 years old, played his golf at the University of Georgia and Augusta State University.

He turned professional in 2011 and has played on the Nationwide Tour and Tour.

Reed is at 11-under 129 after the first two rounds.

Reed’s 64 was not the best round of the day. That honor went to John Huh who garnered a 62 to move to 10 under par.

Jordan Spieth is third at 9 under par with a 66 on Friday.

Journeyman golfer Ken Duke wins first PGA Tour event

44-year-old Ken Duke, whose golf career has seen him play on the Nationwide Tour, Tour and Canadian Tour, is in the limelight today after winning his first PGA Tour event.

The journeyman golfer canned a 2 1/2-foot birdie putt on the second playoff allowing him to hold off Chris Stroud at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut.

The native of Hope, Arkansas attended Henderson State University and has a total of five professional wins.

Stroud forced the playoff by chipping in a 51-foot shot on the 18th hole.

Dufner on verge of first win leading Zurich Classic

Jason Dufner is a 35-year-old native of Cleveland, Ohio.

He is a graduate of Auburn University and has been a pro golfer since 2000.

His only two wins have come on the Nationwide Tour.

He has been so close to wins on the PGA Tour but to no avail.

But on Friday, Dufner has moved to within another shot for his first PGA Tour win, shooting a 7-under-par 65 to reach 12 under par and is the second-round lead in the Zurich Classic in Avondale, Louisiana.

Following Dufner is Russell Knox (64), John Rollins (66) and Ken Duke (68) were tied for second place.

Luke Donald, the world’s second-ranked golfer was 6-under-par after shooting a 65.

Kendall wins Nationwide Tour event in Bogota

Skip Kendall holed a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole for an even-par 71 and a one-shot win in the Nationwide Tour’s season-opener at the Columbia Championship in Bogota.

Kendall finished with a 10-under-par 274 total for his third career Nationwide title.

Born Jules I. Kendall, 47 years ago in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Skip uses the “claw” putting grip.

He played college golf at UNLV and has 7 professional wins overall.

Christian wins Nationwide Tour’s Mylan Classic

The Nationwide Tour’s Mylan Classic in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania, was won by Gary Christian.

The 40-year-old Christian, who is from England, shot a 4-under-par 67 for a one-shot win over John Mallinger.

Christian, a former player at Auburn University, who turned pro in 1967, finished at 17-under 267.

Rahil Gangjee became the third player in Nationwide Tour history to make a hole-in-one on a par 4 hole. He used a driver to ace the 316-yard 15th hole, and finished with a 70 to tie for 32nd at 6 under.
