Truck racing at Daytona International Speedway usually has many wild wrecks and Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck race, the NextEra Energy Resources 250 was no exeption to the rule.

Rookie John King was the winner in Victory Lane after the race ended, but not without some drama.

King’s truck ran into leader Johnny Sauter in the second of three attempts at a green-white-checkered finish and later was held on to win the wild Truck Series opener.

The bad news for open wheel fans is there will be no IndyCar race at Kentucky Speedway in 2012. Track officials could not come to terms with the IRL.

But the good news is that the track, located between Cincinnati and Louisville, will have two Nationwide Series events in 2012, along with its second-ever Sprint Cup race.

The Speedway will hold Sprint Cup, Nationwide and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races June 28-30, 2012.

A second Nationwide race will be paired with the truck event on September 21-22.
