Rumors on talk radio and newspapers are saying that the University of  Texas-San Antonio is looking to join Conference USA.

It was a year ago that UTSA accepted an invitation to join the Western Athletic Conference.

Conference USA officials approached UTSA in March.

Conference USA is planning on merging with the Mountain West Conference, which will create a league of 24 teams across five time zones. No other conference will be able to match that fact.

Texas-San Antonio was scheduled to join the Western Athletic Conference this year, but three WAC schools declared their decisions to leave since UTSA accepted its invitation. This would leave the WAC with just four football schools.
