Rookie EJ Manuel, a recent graduate from Florida State, continues to be impressive during the current NFL exhibition season as he led the Buffalo Bills to a 20-16 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

The 23-year-old who is 6’5, 237 pounder is very close to being named the Bills starting quarterback over veteran Kevin Kolb who has struggled all of training camp.

Manuel, playing the first half was 10 of 12 passing for 92 yards and a touchdown at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Kolb, who has been booed constantly by Bills fans during camp, played the second half and was 10 of 17 for 66 yards and an interceptions.

The NFL is giving the sons of Chris Carter and Joe Montana a shot to become stars in the league where their dads starred.

Duron Carter, an undrafted 6-foot-5, 205-pound wide receiver and son of 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Chris Carter, has signed a contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

Chris Carter played 15 years in the NFL as a possession receiver.

Joe Montana’s son, Nate Montana, also a quarterback, has been invited to the San Francisco 49ers upcoming rookie camp. The 23-year-old had a good showing earlier in April at the team’s local pro day.

Joe Montana played 17 years in the NFL.

Browns trade up to 3rd spot to nab Alabama RB Trent Richardson

During the NFL off-season, Cleveland Browns fans had heard the name of QB Robert Griffin III as the player that the team coveted. But they were not going to beat the Washington Redskins out for his services at #2.

So, the Browns braintrust turned to trading their number-4 spot to the Minnesota Vikings to gain the third spot to get another need, a running back.

They drafted the best runner in the NFL Draft in Alabama’s Trent Richardson.

They weren’t going to let their next choice get away and traded three later round picks to the Vikings to get a playmaker for their anemic offensive attack. The Vikings received picks in the fourth round (# 118), fifth round (# 139) and the seventh round (#211).

Richardson is a dynamic and explosive running back who should help an offense who scored just four rushing touchdowns and 218 points in a 4-12 2011 season.

Eventhough Richardson is just 5-foot-9, 228-pounds, some media experts think that he could be the next Greg Pruitt in Cleveland at running back. He rushed for 1,679 yards last year at Alabama.

Some Browns fans were mad that the team did not address another need in the first round, wide receiver. The team passed up Julio Jones of Alabama and Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton went over the 3,000 passing yards in Sunday’s game at St. Louis, becoming the fifth rookie quarterback in league history to accomplish the feat.

With Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Cam Newton joined the 3,000-club earlier this season, it marks the first time in league history two rookie QB’s have thrown for over 3,000 yards in the same season.

The Bengals have announced that they signed former Ohio State cornerback Devon Torrence to their practice squad.

Torrence was on the Minnesota Vikings during the preseason, but was one of the final cuts from the team.
