Phoenix Suns give Redd first start in two years; leads to win over Charlotte

Columbus West High School grad and former Ohio State star Michael Redd scored 17 points in his first start in more than two years, leading the Phoenix Suns over the slumping Charlotte Bobcats, 95-89 over the weekend.

The Bobcats have lost 11 games in a row and 11 straight on the road and has not won a game since January 14 against the Golden State Warriors.

Prior to the Charlotte game, Redd had not started a game since January 20,2010, against the Los Angeles Lakers when he was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, and had only played just 28 games over the previous two years due to injuries in his left knee.

Starting in place of Jared Dudley who was out with a thigh bruise, Redd made 6 of 12 field goals, 4 of 7 from three-pointers. He has appeared in 10 games with the Suns since signing a one-year contract on December 29.

Wisconsin at Ohio State update: Buckeyes hanging tough at the half, trails 7-3

The Buckeyes continue to hang with them as the saying goes as the halftime score at soldout Ohio Stadium is 7-3 Wisconsin.

The Buckeyes produced the only score of the 2nd quarter as kicker Drew Basil’s 39-yard field goal hit the left upright but it was good.

The Buckeyes defense put constant pressure on the Badgers star quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Homecoming crowd have been treated with visits from Byron Mullins, Evan Turner and Michael Redd and Eddie George.

Eddie George is being honored for his upcoming induction into the National College Football Hall of Fame.

The stats at the half has Wisconsin with 127 yards of total offense and the Buckeyes with 104. The Badgers have only 10 yards on the ground.



Redd attempting to play final games with Milwaukee

For the first time in 14 months, former Ohio State star and Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd participated in practice on Tuesday and is planning on being able to play in New York on Friday.

Redd, in the final year of a huge contract, suffered torn ligaments in his left knee each of the previous two years, most recently in January 2010 after just 18 games back from the first injury.

Redd getting closer to return to Milwaukee Bucks

Michael Redd, who has played in just 51 games the past three NBA seasons, is expected to return to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday after rehabilitation from a severe knee injury.

The Columbus West High School product and former Ohio State star, last played for the Bucks 13 months ago when he suffered torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee in Los Angeles.

Redd has been in rehab in Columbus rather than be with the Bucks this season.

There is no turntable for his return to practice and game conditions.

Redd has the highest contract on the Milwaukee roster, with a salary of $18.3 million in the final year of a six-year, $91 million deal which was signed back in 2005.

He is averaging 20.2 points a game in his 10-year career.

A devout Christian, Redd bought his dad a church building as the first purchase after signing his first NBA contract. The church’s name is Philadelphia Deliverance Church of Christ in Columbus.

The game is a non-conference City League game with the West High Cowboys of the South Division playing the Centennial Stars of the North Division.

The Cowboys, Michael Redd’s former high school, comes into the game at 4-15, 3-11 as a Division I school. They have wins over St. Charles, Africentric and two over South Urban Academy.

Centennial Stars, one of the top teams in the City North Division, comes into the game at 13-6 overall, 11-3 as a Division II school.

The Stars has not lost since being beaten by Hartley on January 29, a game that was broadcasted by Since that time, Centennial has beaten Whetstone, Mifflin, Brookhaven and Linden.
