The Ohio State men’s basketball team survived a scare in Iowa City. But like most ranked teams, they know how to win and no deficit is to big to overcome.

The second-ranked basketball team kicked their defense into high-octane gear which keyed a 16-0 run in the second half last night and held on for a 73-68 win at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

This is the first time in the history of the Ohio State program that the Buckeyes (15-0, 2-0 Big Ten) had won back-to-back road games to start the Big Ten season.

It was their ninth consecutive road win overall and eighth in a row in the Big Ten, dating to last season.

Jared Sullinger led the Buckeyes with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Jon Diebler scored 14 points and David Lighty with 12.

Iowa, now 7-7 overall (0-2) playing without second leading scorer Eric May, who has been out of the lineup because of a groin injury, were led by freshman Melsahn Basabe with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

The Buckeyes trailed most of the first half against a hungry Hawkeyes team; the halftime score was 35-29. In the second half, Ohio State went inside to Sullinger who started to take over and they took their first lead of the game, 38-36 with 17:38 to play.
