It was Gore who scored on a 7-yard touchdown with 1:19 left in regulation and Vernon Davis made a close-call catch at the goal-line for the tying two-point conversion. The play was initially called no good by the referees, but San Francisco challenged the ruling and video-tape replays showed the 49ers were right and the two-point conversion was good.

No problem for the 2-0 Saints, who got the ball back and started to drive from their 30-yard line with 1:14 left. Brees hit Colston with a pass that put the Saints on the San Francisco 18 with 18 seconds left.

Drew Brees completed 28 of 38 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns.
