When Mark Prior was pitching in the early days of his career, he was very dominant and teammed with Kerry Wood to form a great one-two punch at the top of the Chicago Cubs pitching rotation.

Then multiple injuries set in.

He was a 2003 National League All-Star and from 2002-2006 with the Cubs, overall he was a respectable 42-29 record, with a 3.51 ERA and 757 strikeouts.

Now 31-years-old and six years after last pitching in the major leagues, Prior has been promoted to Pawtucket, the Boston Red Sox’ Triple-A team.

Prior was the second overall pick of the Cubs in the 2001 amateur draft. He was third in the NL Cy Young Award voting in 2003 with a record of 18-6 and an ERA of 2.43.
