Ohio Machine announces 2014 schedule, personnel and coaching moves

The Ohio Machine, Central Ohio’s professional Lacrosse team, has announced its 2014 schedule.

The Major League Lacrosse season will open the team with three straight road games in a 14-game schedule.

The season will start April 26 at Charlotte, North Carolina.

The opener at home will be May 17 against the New York Lizards.

The Machine also had some personnel moves and completed its coaching staff.

Assistant coach Bill Wolford will be returning for his third season with the Machine and Tom Mariano for his second with the team. Head Coach Bear Davis has added Dan Marzano to his staff.

In regards to the roster, the team traded for veteran midfielder Stephen Peyser  for midfielder John Austin and a second-round pick in the 2014 draft to New York.  Veteran Ray Megill announced his retirement.

In two years of existence, the Ohio Machine has posted back-to-back records of 2-12 for a total of 4-24 overall.

The Ohio Machine have acquired midfielder Roy Lang and the 11th overall pick in the 2013 Major League Lacrosse collegiate draft from the Rochester Rattlers.

In exchange, the Machine traded midfielder Dan Groot and additional picks in the draft.

The Ohio Machine, is based in Columbus, Ohio, but plays their home games at Selby Field on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. Their head coach is Ted Garber.

Columbus, Ohio approved for Major League Lacrosse franchise

Major League Lacrosse has approved expansion teams for Columbus and Charlotte, North Carolina, for the 2012 season.

The team would probably play their home games in Crew Stadium.

The MLL will have teams in Boston, Denver, Toronto, Rochester, N.Y., Long Island, N.Y. and Annapolis, MD.

The Columbus Crew’s management says that they have had discussions with Major League Lacrosse officials about playing games in Crew Stadium.
