Recari holds off Creamer to win LPGA event in Sylvania, Ohio

Beatriz Recari of Spain held off Paula Creamer in battle to the finish to win the Marathon Classic in the Toledo, Ohio suburb of Sylvania.

The Marathon Classic has taken over for the former Jamie Farr Toledo Classic.

Recari rolled in a 12-foot birdie putt on the 14th hole to take over the lead and win her third LPGA title.

The 26-year-old Recari closed the final day of the tournament with a 5-under-par 66 to finish at 17-under 267.

Creamer finished a strong tournament with a 67 on Sunday.

The Jamie Farr Classic had been one of the LPGA’s long-time tournament’s on tour for years.

The Toledo, Ohio based tournament is now called the Marathon Classic.

Paula Creamer shares the lead in the tournament in Sylvania, Ohio, a West Toledo suburb.

Top-ranked Inbee Park, having a fantastic 2013 season with six wins, including all three major championships, is two shots off the lead with Lydia Ko, the top amateur in the event.

Creamer, who has always played well at the Highland Meadows Golf Club, won the tournament in 2008, when it was called the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic, shot a 3-under-par 68 on Friday after posting a 66 in the opening round.

Creamer, Beatriz Recari and Alison Walshe are all tied at 8-under-par 134.

#1 Women’s golfer Inbee Park wins LPGA NW Arkansas Championship

The World’s Number-1 golfer, Inbee Park, made a 4-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole on Sunday to win the NW Arkansas Championship.

Park beat So Yeon Ryu in capping off her final-round rally in the LPGA Event.

The 24-year-old Park is a native of Seoul, South Korea. She attended UNLV and has 13 professional wins.

LPGA veteran Webb wins ShopRite Classic; first tournament win since 2011

38-year-old Karrie Webb won on Sunday for the 39th time in her illustrious LPGA career. But it was her first tournament win since 2011.

The Australia native rallied from a five-shot deficit to win by two strokes over Shanshan Feng at the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Galloway Township, N.J.

Webb shot a 3-under-par 68 in blustery conditions on Sunday afternoon and finished with an overall score of 4-under 209.

Inbee Park wins LPGA Kraft Nabisco Championship

LPGA golfer Inbee Park doubled her lead to six strokes on the opening hole of the final round and ran away with the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, California.

The win was her second LPGA Tour major title.

Park closed with a 3-under 69 to finish at 15 under, four strokes ahead of So Yeon Ryu.

Ryu shot a 65, the best round of the tournament.

The 24-year-old South Korean, Park, has 9 professional wins.
