OHIO STATE AT ILLINOIS: Illinois rolling with 6-0 start

The tough month of October schedule continues for the Buckeyes on Saturday, as they make the 4-hour trip to Champaign, Illinois for a matchup with #15 Fighting Illini at Memorial Stadium.

The game is set for kickoff at 3:30 p.m. on ABC-TV. The Buckeyes lead the series 62-30-4 and they won in Champaign last year 24-13.

The Illini are led by former OSU assistant coach and Loudonville, Ohio native Ron Zook.

The Illini at 6-0 have not started a season 7-0 since 1951 which was Woody Hayes’ first season at Ohio State.

The Illini on defense are not very good as they rank 56th nationally against the pass, allowing 217 yards per game.

The Illini offense is a good one led by QB Nathan Scheelhaase and WR A.J. Jenkins. That duo gave OSU fits last year and most definitely will this time around.

Jenkins leads the Big Ten in pass receptions (46), receiving yards (815) and receiving touchdowns (7). And Scheelhaase is a duo-threat who can run and pass. He is averaging 206 yards a game, with 10 passing touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

The Illini have a running back by committee like the Buckeyes. They employ Troy Pollard and Jason Ford and ranks 13th in the nation and fourth in the Big Ten in rushing with 226 yards per game.

The Illini have the edge on both sides of the ball for this matchup.
