Manny Pacquiao gets revenge against Timothy Bradley to gain WBO welterweight title

It took two years, but Phillipines-born boxer Manny Pacquiao got  revenge against the man who beat him in a controversial decision.

The 35-year-old southpaw showed he still has the ingredients to win: conditioning, power and speed enroute to a unanimous 12-round decision against the quick-hitting Timothy Bradley.

Two judges scored the fight 116-112 and the third at 118-110.

The 30-year-old Bradley, who is from Cathedral City, California, told the media after the bout that he did not have anything left in the tank after injuring his right calf in the first round.

Bradley is now 31-1.

Pacquiao, who improves his record to a phenomenal 56-5-2, has now held nine world championships after winning on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Keselowski holds off Kyle Busch to win Nationwide Series race at Las Vegas

Brad Keselowski overcame electrical problems to hold off Kyle Busch and win the Boyd Gaming 300 Nationwide Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

It was his first win in Las Vegas.

The 30-year-old Keselowski had his fair share of troubles during the race. He lost three spots early in the race after sliding in and through his pit box. He also lost power due to a bad alternator which forced him to shut down his car.

But the Rochester Hills, Michigan resident worked his way through all the traffic to win his 28th career win in the Nationwide Series.

Rounding out the top-five were Kyle Larson who was third, Dale Earnhardt Jr. fourth and Chase Elliott fifth. It was Elliott’s first top-five finish.

Cavs’ star Irving to have surgery on broken hand today

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving will be having surgery to fix his broken hand on Wednesday.

The injury occured when Irving slapped a padded wall during a summer league practice on Saturday in Las Vegas.

The Cavaliers say that the NBA’s Rookie of the Year will be ready for the start of training camp in late September.

Some NBA experts and media who cover the Cavs on a regular basis wonder why Irving was even playing in the summer league. It is usually for reserved for drafted rookies, free agents, and undrafted players.

Guerrero trying to slug his way back to MLB & Toronto’s Blue Jays

Slugging outfielder/designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero had quite a career in Major League Baseball with Montreal, the LA Angels, Texas and Baltimore.

His totals are a .318 average, 2,590 hits, 449 homers, 1,496 RBI’s.

But no one wanted to sign him as a free agent after the 2011 season.

Cleveland took a look at him briefly during spring training down in his native Dominican Republic. And now, the Toronto Blue Jays have him getting in shape in the minors.

The 37-year-old is moving up to Las Vegas, the Blue Jays Triple-A affiliate.

Guerrero was tearing up the Class A League at Dunedin, Florida, hitting .450 with a double, four home runs and eight RBI’s.

Cleveland Gladiators bought by Cavs owner Gilbert

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has bought the Cleveland Gladiators franchise of the Arena Football League.

The Gladiators were and instant hint with fans in the Lake Erie city early in their formative days, but they have been struggling to get fans into Quicken Loans Arena in the past few years.

Their training camp starts in February.

The ownership group led by Gilbert, purchased the team from Jim Ferraro, an attorney who has owned the team since 2000.

Ferraro took the franchise to Las Vegas in 2002 and moved it to Cleveland in 2007. Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar is a part owner and advisor.
