Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant has always said that the Oklahoma town is his home and would help in the community when he could.

Recently, while watching television images of how much destruction the tornado did in the suburb of Moore, Oklahoma, the popular NBA star offered his help with a pledge of $1 million.

The likeable former University of Texas star has lived in Oklahoma City for five years, ever since the Seattle SuperSonics franchise moved there in 2008.

The Thunder’s organization and NBA players association also pledged a $1 million dollars each to the tornado victims.

With the NBA in a lockdown mode and no end in sight, several players are trying to keep in shape any way they can.

On Sunday, Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook comprised a White team and beat a Blue team led by Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, 176-171 in Oklahoma City.

Durant produced a triple-double scored 42 points, pulled down 26 rebounds and dished out 11 assists in the charity basketball game in the city home of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

At halftime of the game, Durant presented a check for $100,000 to Single Parents Support Network of Oklahoma City.

The NBA players will be putting on several of these charity games around the league in order to keep their fans entertained until the NBA officially returns.

As usual, the NBA All-Star Game is all-offense and no-defense and thus a high-scoring affair. But after all, it is for fun and for the fans.

The West won 148-143 over the East at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Kobe Bryant won his record-tying fourth All-Star Game MVP award. In front of his homecourt fans, he scored 37 points and grabbed 14 rebounds outplaying LeBron James’ triple-double of 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were run off the court in Oklahoma City 106-77 by the Thunder.

The season without LeBron James has a new nightmare every night. The loss was the eighth in a row as they fell to 7-17. This their longest losing streak since they dropped eight in a row from November 19 through December 3, 2003.

The Thunder outscored the Cavs in the paint 56-28 and scored 28 points off turnovers mostly on fast break layups and dunks.

NBA scoring leader Kevin Durant scored 25 points, 14 in the first quarter.
