Manning to leave Kansas to become head coach at Tulsa

Kansas head basketball coach Bill Self, not only lost the national championship game to the Kentucky Wildcats, but he is losing two of his top assistant coaches as well.

First, director of basketball operations Barry Hinson announced that he had taken the job at Southern Illinois.

And now, its long-time assistant Danny Manning will become the new head coach at Tulsa.

Manning, who played for the Jayhawks from 1984-88, was a smooth-shooting inside-outside player who at 6’10, 230-pounds, scored 2,951 career points and is the Lawrence, Kansas school’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder. Self, earlier in his career, was the head coach at Tulsa.

The 45-year-old Manning played in the NBA with the LA Clippers, Atlanta, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Utah, Dallas and Detroit.

Sullinger says he’ll be a Buckeye next season

As soon as the Buckeyes lost to the Kentucky Wildcats in the Sweet 16 Friday night in Newark, New Jersey, all Buckeyes fans were wondering about Jared Sullinger returning for his sophomore season.

The 6’9 freshman star said after the game that he’ll return for his sophomore season and won’t enter the NBA draft.

“I’m a man of my word,” Sullinger said. “I don’t change my mind for anything.”

The soft-spoken Sullinger is projected to be one of the top picks in the NBA draft if were to declare now that the season is over.

His scoring game the Buckeyes a chance against the Wildcats, 21 points to go along with 16 rebounds.
