#1 Ohio State loses to Wisconsin, this time in basketball

Kohl Center has been bad news for Ohio State (courtesy of Wisconsin athletics)

The Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball team won the first 24 games of the season, the best start by any team in the country in three years.

Another startling fact at OSU is that they won 12 straight Big Ten road games, which is a feat in a top-notch conference.

But has the schedule wound down, everybody saw the Wisconsin game as a possible roadblock. And it was.

The Buckeyes lost to Wisconsin, 71-67 after blowing a 15-point lead in the second half at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Kohl Center has been a nightmare for Ohio State who has not won in Madison since 2000 which is nine straight losses.

The loss is mind-boggling because the Buckeyes played well in all phases, 54 percent from the floor, 88 percent from the foul line, outrebounded the Badgers 25-24 and only had seven turnovers.

The Badgers won the game from the three-point line, 36-9.

Point guard Jordan Taylor scored 27 points, 21 in the second half. Jon Leuer and Mike Bruesewitz each added 12 points.

#13 Wisconsin ups his record to 19-5, 9-3 while the #1 Buckeyes drop to 24-1, 11-1.

William Buford with 21 points and J.J. Sullinger added 19 for Ohio State.

The 29-6 Owls from the Atlantic 10 Conference, never got untracked as Cornell. the best team to come out of the Ivy League in 10 years, never let lost control of the game.

Clemson Head coach Oliver Purnell will have to wait until next year to win an NCAA Tournament game. He has taken three schools to the “Big Dance”, Old Dominion, Dayton and Clemson and has yet to win a game. Clemson ends up at 21-11.

23-10 Missouri was led by Kim English and Keith Ramsey each scoring 20 points and the Tigers swarming defense shut Clemson.

Morgan State (27-10) had delusions of grandeur as they led early in the contest 10-0 while the Mountaineers missed their first 11 shots.
