COLUMBUS CITY LEAGUE BOYS BASKETBALL: Reynoldsburg beats Eastmoor Academy

The Eastmoor Academy Warriors took a break from Columbus City League action to play the Reynoldsburg Raiders.

The Warriors ran into a buzzsaw as the host Raiders won 54-35.

Wendell Davis led Reynoldsburg of the Ohio Capital Conference with 20 points in improving to 12-1 on the season.

Eastmoor Academy drops to 7-5 on the season.

John Draper led the Warriors in points with 12.

The first quarter was close at 11-10 with the Raiders leading. In the second quarter, the Warriors only managed 7 points as Reynoldsburg led at halftime, 30-17. Eastmoor never recovered after halftime.



COLUMBUS CITY LEAGUE BASKETBALL: Draper’s hot 3rd quarter leads Eastmoor to win at South, 62-52

Senior guard John Draper showed his leadership Friday night, scoring 12 points in in the game-clinching third quarter to lead Eastmoor Academy to a road win over City League South Division rival South, 62-52.

Both the Warriors and Bulldogs are 7-4 on the season, but are going in opposite directions in the standings. Eastmoor is 5-1 in keeping pace with division leader Africentric, while South drops to 2-4.

Jahmal Hughes led the fourth quarter scoring for Eastmoor Academy with 12 of his 21 total.

Ellis Williams led the Bulldogs with 14 points.

The Warriors outscored South in the second half, 39-27.

(Beechcroft Cougars)

The Beechcroft Cougars traveled to Linden-McKinley and walked away with a 64-51 win.

Khaleed Franklin led the way with 30 points for the Cougars.

The Panthers were led by Patrick Ngene-Igwe with 15 and Dwight Edwards with 14 points.







Hali Robinson’s Brookhaven Bearcats continue to win games.

On Tuesday, they traveled to Centennial and won easily, 75-53.

The key to the game was that the Bearcats shut down the Stars with 11 points in the third quarter and 8 in the fourth quarter.

Randall Clarkson led Brookhaven with 26 points followed by 22 from Khalid King.

The Stars were led by Eric Cofer-Wilson with 13 points.







Independence 76ers

The Independence 76ers followed up a nice win at Columbus South on Friday night with an impressive win at Columbus West on Tuesday night, 90-68.

The West Cowboys remains winless on the season at 0-19, 0-13.

The 76ers put four players in double figures scoring: Dominic Ward with 22, Chris Johnson with 18, Terry Hopewell with 16 and Malik Breckenridge with 12.





Eastmoor Academy Warriors

Eastmoor Academy took control of the game from the beginning of the game as they led 13-4 at the end of the first quarter and 26-15 at the half en route to an easy 65-35 win over Columbus South.

Bryan Booker led the way for the Warriors with 16 and John Draper scored 13.

South was led my Oumar Diop with 18.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: Big 2nd quarter lifts Eastmoor Academy over 76ers, 58-54

The Eastmoor Academy Warriors earned their 10th win of the basketball season with a 58-54 South Division win over the Independence 76ers.

John Draper scored 20 points to lead the winners on their home court.

The Warriors had a big second quarter which basically helped them win the game. In that quarter, Draper connected on 7 of 12 free throws as his team outscored Independence, 20-6.

Malik Mills led the 76ers with 23 points.

The Warriors improve to 10-5, 7-3 in the South, while Independence falls to 4-11, 3-7.

At one point of the current basketball season, Eastmoor Academy was 6-0 and rolling.

But then came a four-game losing streak to St. Charles, Dayton Meadowdale, Walnut Ridge and Africentric, all teams with winning records and solid teams.

But now, head coach James Miranda has his team rolling again with two wins in a row.

Tuesday night at home, the Warriors beat City South Division rival, the Briggs Bruins, 76-58.

Point guard John Draper led the way with 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Eastmoor Academy, who is now 8-4, 5-2.

Briggs drops to 6-4, 3-4 and were led by Charles Westbrook with 9 points.
