Broncos replace Tebowmania with Peyton Manning at QB

Eventhough Tim Tebow brought nationwide noteriety to the Denver Broncos last season with his inspiring, miracle play at quarterback, reports out of the Mile High City kept saying that owner Pat Bowlen and front office executive John Elway were not sold on him as their future leader.

As soon as the Indianapolis Colts cut Peyton Manning, the Broncos name came up.

The Broncos now have Manning as their starting quarterback.

Contract details have not been announced, but there has been an agreement in principle that he’ll be playing for Denver in 2012.

The other teams in the Manning sweepstakes were the 49ers and Dolphins and Titans.

With the signing of Manning, there is no doubt that Tebow, the team’s first-round pick in 2010, will be traded.

Manning missed all of the 2011 season due to rehabbing from a series of neck surgeries.

Without him, the  Colts went from being one of the best NFL teams to the worst and it cost head coach Jim Caldwell his job.

Former Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel,  is ready for his NFL debut this Sunday for the Indianapolis Colts at New Orleans.

Tressel who resigned in May following the NCAA scandal was hired by Colts head coach Jim Caldwell in September to be a game-day consultant.

Three days after his hiring, the Colts said that he would not begin his duties until the seventh game of the season.

Tressel will work from the Colts coaches’ booth advising Caldwell on replay review possibilities.

The Indianapolis Colts have decided not to use former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel as a replay consultant until the seventh game of the season.

Colts vice chairman Bill Polian said earlier this week that Tressel won’t join the team officially until late October. The team last week announced it had hired Tressel as a game-day consultant to help determine when the team should challenge plays with a video review.

Over the past weekend, Colts owner Jim Irsay, head coach Jim Caldwell, Polian and Tressel dicussed the situation with NFL officials.

The Colts management team said that questions were raised with respect to of should he serve a suspension like Terrelle Pryor of the Oakland Raiders who is serving a five-game suspension and the other Ohio State players for NCAA rules violations. If Tressel were still at Ohio State, he would be serving a five-game suspension.
