Buckeyes tight end Jeff Heuerman to miss rest of spring practices

The Ohio State Buckeyes have had their share of injuries like most college teams during the spring football season.

The Buckeyes up until a few days ago had only two players injured. Safety Vonn Bell and wide receiver Jalin Marshall both out with knee injuries.

Now, a third has been put on the shelf.

Talented senior tight end Jeff Heuerman will miss the rest of spring football has well after having foot surgery on March 31.

Head coach Urban Meyer said that the injury will put Heuerman in a cast for six weeks and a boot. He should be ready to go in June.

The injury to Heuerman is described as a midfoot sprain.

OSU SPRING GAME: Pre-game notes


COLUMBUS, OHIO — The annual Scarlet & Gray Spring Game is just minutes away at Ohio Stadium.

The Scarlet team will be coached by offensive coordinator Tom Herman and Luke Fickell, the defensive coordinator coach’s the Gray squad.

Not playing in the game: Jordan Hall, Drew Basil, Curtis Grant, Jeff Heuerman, Storm Klein, Joshua Perry, Nathan Williams, Verlon Reed, Jacoby Boren, Evan Spencer, Jamie Wood, CJ Barnett, Ivon Blackman.

Hall is being held out as to avoid injury and John Simon will play sparingly.

The quarterbacks will not be doing alot of running.

Freshman QB Miller impressive in Ohio State jersey scrimmage

Braxton Miller threw two touchdown passes in Ohio State’s jersey scrimmage at Ohio Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Braxton, a freshman from Huber Heights, Ohio, passed to Chris Fields on 58-yard catch-and-run on the first series that the quarterbacks wore their black, non-contact jerseys. He later hit Devin Smith for a 26-yard scoring strike.

Joe Bauserman, a fifth-year senior, threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Heuerman but also was intercepted in the end zone by Travis Howard.

No score was kept and the winner of the coveted scarlet practice jerseys would be decided after the coaching staff reviews the scrimmage video tape.
