For those Columbus Blue Jackets fans expecting to see goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky in the lineup after the NHL All-Star break ends, get those thoughts out of your hold because reality says his injury healing time will be lengthy.

The 26-year-old Russian, a fan-favorite, suffered an injury to the right side of his groin in Wednesday night’s lackluster 4-0 loss at Winnepeg.

CBJ general manager Jarmo Kekalainen says that the injury will require Bobrovsky to be on the shelf for awhile.

Bobrovsky, who always gives the Blue Jackets a chance to win when he is in goal, was scheduled to play in the 2015 NHL All-Star Game, but his injury derailed those plans.

Bobrovsky with the Philadelphia Flyers and Blue Jackets has a career record of 95-54-21 in 179 games.

2014-15 Blue Jackets ready for another NHL Playoff run with yet another young team

The Columbus Blue Jackets have come a long way from the days of depending on superstar Rick Nash to carry them.

The past two seasons without Nash, the team has posted winning records of 24-17-7 for 55 points in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season where Blue Jackets just missed the playoffs via a tiebreaker against the Minnesota Wild, who had more non-shootout wins.  To 43-32-7 for 93 points and the playoffs in 2013-14.

The team has relied on several players to lead them to their winning ways: G Sergei Bobrovsky, F Artem Anisimov, F Cam Atkinson, F Matt Calvert, F Brandon Dubinsky, F Nick Foligno, F Boone Jenner, F Ryan Johansen and F Mark Letestu. On defense, the leaders include Jack Johnson, Ryan Murray, Dalton Prout, David Savard, Fedor Tyutin and James Wisniewski. So the days of relying on one superstar player is done and over with.

However, on the eve of training camp last week, the team was told by Johansen and his agent that they did not like the contract offers that were extended by the Blue Jackets. The Jackets have offered Johansen more money than what other top players are getting at his position.

The Blue Jackets organization is loaded with young talent. This year’s team may see some younger players added to the roster.

The winning ways started to happen when the CBJ signed  John Davidson and Jarmo Kekalainen who both had worked for the arch-rival St. Louis Blues to run the Hockey Operations as President and GM respectively.

Both Davidson and Kekalainen talked about the upcoming season of Blue Jackets hockey.
