The Columbus Academy Vikings, who has speed all over field, used that weapon to put away visiting Lakewood early, 42-2.

The Vikings scored 21 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second quarter en route to an easy win.

The MSL Ohio Division teams are going in opposite directions. Academy evens its record at 2-2 (1-0), while Lakewood falls to 1-3 (0-1).

Jared Harris was the star for Academy, with 200 yards and scoring three touchdowns.

The Columbus Academy Vikings coming off a 5-5 campaign is looking to finish games stronger in 2012.

The Vikings, who always have athletes, lost two games last year by a touchdown or less hoped to improve that area this season.

They did fare well in their first game of the new season , as the Marysville Monarchs scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter within 1:41 to beat the visiting Vikings, 22-19.

Bright spot for Academy was TB Jared Harris who led the team with 155 yards rushing and threw a 38-yard TD pass to WR Tyler Gittins.

The Columbus Academy Vikings improved to 5-1 overall with 42-14 hammering of the Bexley Lions in Thursday night high school football action.

Academy moves to 3-0 in the Mid-State League Ohio Division, while Bexley drops to 4-3 overall, 1-3.

Leading the way for the Vikings were R.J. Watters and Jared Harris who combined for four touchdowns and 265 rushing yards. The Lions defense simply could not stop either player all game long.
