Columbus West High School grad and former Ohio State star Michael Redd scored 17 points in his first start in more than two years, leading the Phoenix Suns over the slumping Charlotte Bobcats, 95-89 over the weekend.

The Bobcats have lost 11 games in a row and 11 straight on the road and has not won a game since January 14 against the Golden State Warriors.

Prior to the Charlotte game, Redd had not started a game since January 20,2010, against the Los Angeles Lakers when he was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, and had only played just 28 games over the previous two years due to injuries in his left knee.

Starting in place of Jared Dudley who was out with a thigh bruise, Redd made 6 of 12 field goals, 4 of 7 from three-pointers. He has appeared in 10 games with the Suns since signing a one-year contract on December 29.

Less than four weeks after the Phoenix Suns’ unexpected run to the Western conference finals, general manager Steve Kerr will be leaving the franchise after owner Robert Sarver asked him to take a 10 percent cut in pay.

The stunning departure by Kerr could put the franchise in turmoil which could cost them their best player Amare Stoudemire. Although, Stoudemire’s agent Happy Walters has been in contact with the Suns and is waiting for a contract proposal.
