As expected, Bobek leaves OSU; chooses Minnesota

Former Ohio State football player Brian Bobek has made his decision to continue his academic/career at the University of Minnesota.

There is a penalty for Bobek transferring in the Big Ten. By choosing another Big Ten team, Bobek will lose a year of eligibility. Bobek, an offensive center, becomes eligible in 2013, and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Bobek, who is 275 pounds, did not fit into the new spread offense as a lighter center.

He will not get the chance to play against the Buckeyes because the Gophers do not play again until 2015.

After arriving in Columbus as one of the top high-school centers in the nation, Bobek did not play much as a freshman. He fell behind in spring football practices to Corey Linsley and Jacoby Boren.
