LIBERTY BOWL preview: Cincinnati, Vanderbilt hookup today at 3:30 PM ET on ABC in Memphis

The Cincinnati Bearcats (9-3) takes on the Vanderbilt Commodores (6-6) in the December 31 Liberty Bowl.

This is the 53rd edition of the Memphis bowl.

The Bearcats have a load of talent led by their quarterbacks Zach Collaros, if he is recovered from an ankle injury, Munchie Legaux and Isaiah Pead, the all-Big East running back.

One of the reasons for the Bearcats turnaround-season was a much-improved defense which was steady enough despite a series of key injuries and an inexperienced secondary and an overhauled defensive line that came up with 35 sacks in a nine-game period. Cincy is among the nation’s leaders in turnover margin.

New Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin came and changed a losing culture into a winning atmosphere and did just that.

Vandy is playing in just its fifth game in its history.

The Commodores rallied back from back-to-back 2-10 records to 6-6.

Vanderbilt’s QB is Jordan Rodgers, brother of Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers.
