Mike Conway made a late pass by Ryan Briscoe to win the Grand Prix of Long Beach on Sunday, earning his first career IndyCar win in just his third race since a bad crash last year at the Indianapolis 500.

Conway has come all the way back from the crash where he suffered multiple leg fractures and a compression fracture in his back in the Indy 500 wreck, knocking him out for the rest of the Indy Racing League season.

The road course at Long Beach is a tricky, 11-turn, 1,968-mile circuit which winds through the streets of downtown Long Beach, California.

Conway started the race third and hung around the leaders until his chance came to take the race.

Conway took advantage of a final caution flag, and drove past  Dario Franchitti and Briscoe with 14 laps left took the race home to the finish.

Briscoe finished second and Franchitti third.
